Your First Visit

Your initial oral examination includes a visual examination, charting, diagnosis and treatment recommendations with the doctor. With your initial examination we will also take full mouth and bitewing x-rays for proper diagnosis of the front and back teeth.

After completion of your examination your teeth will be cared for by our dental hygienist who cleans and diagnoses soft tissue health. An emphasis on dental education is a top priority.

We value patient interaction and stress education to help you care for your oral health.

General and Cosmetic Dentistry

Dr. Barta is trained and equipped to do most procedures routinely in our office. This includes restorations, crowns, bridgework, removable dentures, implants and root canal therapy.

Cosmetic dentistry can include a variety of techniques, from re-contouring the teeth or gums to placing veneers. We also provide tooth-whitening, tooth-colored  fillings and all porcelain crowns.

Pediatric Dentistry

Dr. Barta has had additional dental education through Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee in pediatric dentistry. He has an extra two years of specialized training after dental school, and is dedicated to the oral health of children from infancy through the teenage years. Dr. Barta uses a different approach with the very young, pre-teens, and teenagers in dealing with their behavior, guiding their dental growth and development, and helping them avoid future dental problems. This includes restorations and dental sealants.

Dr. Barta is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. For more information about the AAPD go to

Oral Surgery

It is always our goal to help preserve your natural teeth through supportive treatment such as fillings and crowns. However, there are times when tooth removal is needed due to infection, gum disease, tooth decay, root fractures or due to severe crowding and impactions.

Most oral surgery can be performed at our office. We will take the utmost care to make this visit as painless as possible with local anesthetics, nitrous oxide gas and oral sedation if necessary.

Oral Sedation and Hospital Dentistry

Oral sedation dentistry allows patients to experience a state of relaxation while remaining conscious. Along with nitrous oxide, this allows us to treat fearful patients who would otherwise avoid the dentist. When the affects of the sedation wears off, patients typically have little memory of their dental visit.

For patients with extensive dental needs and high levels of anxiety, dental care in a hospital setting may be desirable. We offer the option of dental care under general anesthetic as a same-day surgery. Dr. Barta is on staff at United Hospital Systems and has done hospital dentistry since 1988.
